The Borough Council's Economic Development Unit (EDU) is dedicated to helping existing local companies grow and in attracting new businesses to Great Yarmouth. The EDU works closely with a number of other organisations to provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated advice and assistance to business.
Working within the strategic framework provided by the Regional Economic Strategy, the Borough Council is also part of the Shaping Norfolk's Future initiative, a business led partnership formed to develop the economy of Norfolk.

Great Yarmouth Port Users Association comprises all the leading operators in the port and acts as an authoritative voice on relevant issues, both in terms of new developments and the implementation of agreed policy.

Norfolk County Council's Economic Development Unit offers information and advice to businesses in Norfolk and their Trading Standards department publishes guidance documents for business and the consumer. The County's EDU is also part of "Shaping Norfolk's Future", a private and public sector partnership formed to develop the economy of Norfolk.

Great Yarmouth is a major East Coast UK Port located in Norfolk 20km north of Felixstowe/ Harwich and adjoins a large port/industrial area known as South Denes. The port, which is operated by Great Yarmouth Port Company Ltd, trading as EastPort UK integrates the river and outer harbour facilities and handles a range of general cargo in addition to being the principal UK base for the offshore oil and gas industry in the Southern North Sea. EastPort UK is managing the construction of the Outer Harbour, a major port expansion that is one of the largest UK new port developments, to go ahead in recent years. The Outer Harbour will fully integrate with existing facilities whilst bringing new opportunities for present and future customers.

Norfolk Chamber of Commerce represents some 1,500 businesses across the county and provides networking opportunities in the region, representing different areas through locally-led groups, and enables individual businesses to influence issues which affect them.
Norfolk Chamber of Commerce opens the door to commercial services through the British Chamber of Commerce network, as well as promotional opportunities through editorial and advertising in its bi-monthly magazine, inclusion in its annual business directory and a range of sponsorships. There is also access to training and a wealth of experience to help overseas expansion through the international trade team.
